Protector of Ashdown Forest || Giclee Print
Based on a folklore set in Ashdown Forest - one of my favourite dog walking spots. A hunter set out on Ashdown at the same time as a druid. After a long day, the hunter sat down by a body of water. Hearing a rustling behind him and frustrated by his lack of success, he fired his bow without looking. It was then that he realised that he had shot a wild horse who had a foal. Disraught he lay down next to it. It was then that the druid appeared at the body of water. He told the man that if he wanted to do right by he foal, that he should enter the water with the horse. The man did and when he emerged from the water - he was a centaur. He cared for the foal and to this day still protects that animals of Ashdown Forest.
When I found this lake with an oak tree growing out of it - I knew I had to make a print.
The main print is a linocut using one piece of lino. The bluebells are depicted with watercolours, they are then cut out and applied to the linoprint.
This is a giclée print. Printed to the highest quality on Hahnemühle German Etching paper 310gsm paper using archival inks.
This is a square image which measures 29.7cm x 29.7cm.
Each print will be hand signed and titled.
